guys, not sure if your aware but there is an app for smartphones that you can use to check for fault codes using your OBD port. I have used it and it works fine and also clears your codes and you can see live data on there:

the app is free and there is also a paid version out there. the OBDII bluetooth scanners are available thru ebay for less than £20.

I though I'd mention it as its a worthwhile investment.

 

i have a 57 plate fiesta climate tdci and have just used tourque app and bluetooth scanner. and it has come up with a few codes from the car, ive tried to look them up on the net but cant seem to find them. it logged po42f,p115a,p0313,p0490,p1412. anyone have any ideas??any help would be greatly appreciated....

tried all those code sites. the codes i got off tourque app are not listed anywhere...think ill have to get it read at a garage.

 

Try this site; It usually has all codes. http://www.dtcsearch.com
it usually has also good descriptions of the fault, like when it is set.
Alternatives are: http://www.aboutautomobile.com/DTC and http://www.eobd2.eu/DTCL.asp
These 2 sites sometimes have P1xxx codes for Ford that the 1st does not have.
P042F - Exhaust Gas Recirculation "A" Control Stuck Closed
P115A - Fuel Stepper Motor Fault
p0313 - Misfire Detected With Low Fuel
p0490 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation "A" Control Circuit High
p1412 - (EGR) Valve Frozen

Start with cleaning/replacing the EGR valve. It may lead to strange mixtures and misfires.
