Default focus 1.8 tddi starting from cold problem

hey guys

i have a v reg focus 1.8tddi i baught as a none runner its in mint conditiion only thing is it wont start when cold :S i have replaced the glow plugs and still nothing it will turn as if its gunna start i have found a little switch on the steering colum that is drawing alot of current as it makes the dash dim a little i can only get it started by keeping a constant supply on the glow plugs until it starts or with easy start nothing else gets it going :S and its not the pump as it runs like a dream when running

what is the swich for. check voltage at glow plugs but id suspect leak off pipes that run from injectors even if they look good they can draw in air and cause this had the same problem recantly and it was this

checked the switch and it is for the glow plugs the glow plugs dont work with out it. spoke to some guy today and e said it could be the starter as when trying to start i checked the battery and the starter seems to be draining it am gunna try with a diffrent battery tomoz see if that helps will also try the leak off pipes will update soon
