Default Ford Focus 1.4 zetec se

Hi All

i am in need of some advice.
when you dip the clutch to change gear the revs jump up to 3000 rpm
the same happens when you are coming to a stop at lights ect.
if you depress the clutch and coast for a short while the revs jump up and down between 800 and 3000 rpm.

when you come to a stop the revs jump up to 3000 then drop to 2000 then back to idle @ 1200 ish.

took it into a garage to did a diagnostic said it MAY be the speed sensor, so we had that job done, but the problem still persists.

would be gratefull for any advice/help

Regards

Alastair

Sticky idle speed control valve, mine does this. It's pretty annoying at times.

Thanks for your reply, is it a simple part to clean or do you just replace it?

Regards

About Ł35 for a new one I think.
I would stick a new one on if it were me.

You can clean them using brake fluid/petrol etc, it's at least worth a try before spending out on a new one!
