Default Focus 1.8 TDCI 2006 turbo problems

hi, i have recently lost power and turbo has started to whine, have taken inlet hose off and looked into impeller and the vanes seem a little chewed and there is lateral play in the impeller, am I right in thinking the turbo is goosed or could it be something else wrong with turbo?

Am struggling to find a replacement or parts on line anywhere, anybody got any good advice please.

Cheers,

Flash

Yes the turbo has had it, you could have it sent away for a rebuild but I'm sure the cost of that could outweigh the value of the car.

Maybe try an online breakers, or find one breaking for parts on ebay etc?

though as much, have managed to find a replacement CHRA cartridge as i'm thinking as that houses all the bearings and it looks as much work to replace whole turbo this could be a more financial viable option. cheers for the reply
