Focus 1.6 Zetec - 2nd noisy fuel pump issue
Hi - problem is noisy fuel pump, for the second time. ? Third pump needed?
I have a 2000 Mk1 Focus 1.6 petrol Zetec auto - now 98,000 miles. Has been in the family since 40,000 miles, and has been regularly serviced. Generally it goes really well. Mix of motorway & 'pottering about' milage
At 54,000 miles, the fuel pump was very noisy / whining, and I had it changed by my local (non-Ford) garage - an aftermarket part. Noise went away.
It became very noisy again, so at 87,800 miles it was changed again ( pump had only done 33000 miles & was changed under warrantee, I paid labour ) by same garage. I had the fuel filter by the fuel tank changed too. Noise went away.
Now at 98,000 the pump is getting very noisy again - constant whining. Car runs well, with no hesitations.
I'm going to try & fix this myself. I have a Haynes manual, garage & tools, but no fuel pressure test gauge
Could it be the a blocked fuel return line ( how do i check ? Disconnect at engine bay and blow ?!) I can change the Fuel Pressure regulator, but don't want to spend £75 if its not that
Sorry for dumb question - what is this in the fuel line feed (circled) in engine bay. Thanks
