Default Switching off hill start

Hi
Looking at getting
2011 FOCUS HATCHBACK 1.6 SCTI (150ps) EcoBoost Titanium

Generally spec and power is what I want.

Concerned though that it has Hill Start Assist

Seriously don't want this and am interested in how to switch off,
so is it.

a) No way of switching it off
b) Need to do something to disable it every time I start car.
c) Easy to set to off until you actively reset to active.

Also slightly concerned it may have auto switch off/on.
Will it have this? and again same questions as above.

Any knowledge about this appreciated.

Please don't take the time to tell me I'll get used to these things or that they are desirable. I 100% appreciate that some folk like them, I just don't want them unless they are easily disabled.

Cruise control, on the other hand, I am convinced by and is part of the reason looking at the Titanium.

I was amazed by how stingy Ford are with cruise control - only on top of range models. Can the electronics required really be that expensive? Particularly annoying given all the extraneous electronic nonsense they force on us. Guess I must be officially old.

Just use the on board computer to disable it. It will not enable itself until you turn it on again

Many thanks, that sounds good.

Does that apply to both hill start assist and automatic start stop?

Hill start can be permanently switched off on the dash but start / stop needs to be turned off every time you start the car. Hill start isn't a bad feature though, I've got it on my cmax and you get used to it.

Have you driven a vehicle with Hill start assist?

I can't understand why you're so bothered about it being there it doesn't hinder driving at all.

Stop Start is easily overcome, don't take your foot off the clutch pedal.

i would not recommend holding the clutch pedal down for long periods of time in any car
