Default Mk1 Focus Flight Upgrade Advice Needed

Hello,
This is my first post.

I have a Mk1 Focus Flight 1.6 (2004), it has been modified to look like an ST170. The reasons for doing this and aiming to upgrade further rather than just buying an ST170 are due to outrageous insurance (I'm 22) and also to learn a bit about cars in the process of improving it.

I want to make simple performance improvements without changing the look of the car too much from how it looks now (like an ST170). I have been looking at performance exhausts and engine components, such as ignition upgrades. Don't really know where to start first.

In terms of budget, I intend to just save for parts and purchase when I can afford them, probably up to a limit of about £2500 over the next few years.

Could anyone suggest how I can do this? I appreciate that a 1.6 engine is only capable of so much.

Cheers.

When I had my 1.6 I stuck on a magnex exhaust and just a panel filter.

Not sure what else you can really do to the 1.6.

You could use a 4 branch manifold and decat it.

not sure if people have done or it can be done with internal work but a low pressure supercharger mite work without bothering the engine internals

I've thought about decats, but creates MOT problems.
