HELP!!!
Hi first thread and unfortunate it has to be this one.
Basically been out today and everything was absolutely fine.
Got home and put it in reverse to park and it moved about a food back and then stopped as tho there was something under the wheel, so i pulled forward and it was fine. Put it back into reverse and travelled about 4 foot back but felt kinda a pop.looked infront and noticed a small oil patch, so got out and had a look under the car to see lots of oil flowing out (prob about 3/4 - 1ltr).
As yet i have been unable to jack up the car to have a proper look , but from what i can see i would say it looks like it is coming from the left hand side of the gearbox(if looking into the engine bay) . my car is lowered and has had a couple of scrapes lately, but by process of elimination i would say if it was the sump it would have emptied on the motorway on the 20 mile drive?
But for how quick the oil was flowing out, surely if i had somehow cracked or put a hole in the gearbox that also would have been blowing oil on the way home?
Which leaves me to think drive shaft? Is it possible that simply reversing could have some how popped/ broke a drive shaft?
Also if it is the gear box, is there a big difference in the mk1 1800 16v and 2ltr 16v gear box.
Sorry for the essay but help asap please

How much has it been lowered by? If it's too low, driveshaft popped out I reckon. If you put it in gear, jack it up one side at the time, if you can turn one of the wheels then that's probably your problem. It only needs to come out an inch or so to loose all drive, you won't even be able to see it with the gaiter still fitted.
the thing is it has pissed oil every where but there is no oil on any of the seals. the oils literal poored out of where there gear box goes on of that makes sence
As for how low.....LOW, i've raised it up slightly but its about 55-60mm off the floor on the underneath. You can just slide your foot under the seal and move about a little
