overheating
hi i have a 1989 rs and its overheating just had the headgasket sorted and still over heating anyidea? im lost
could the block be cracked or maybe a air lock water pump?had it for a year or so and first problem ive had

could be air locked mate or it could very well be a cracked block
leave the car to idle with the header cap off and the blowers on full blast on hot until the cooling fans come on. this should get rid of any air locks it may have. is the cooling fan working??also did you have the head pressure tested or skimmed before you put it back on??replace thermostat as it could be fucked??some tips for ya mate .how hot is it getting and how long does it take to get hot??

I reckon it just needs the ignition timing and the fuel setting up. Get it down to your nearest tuners and have it set up. Had the same problem with mine once i had sorted my head gasket.

Are you sure the car is overheating?
What I mean is are the rad pipes getting REALLY hot, is the header tank bubbling up? It may be that the water temp sensor in the head got damaged and is giving a high reading. It might be worth getting a new sensor for the sake of Ł12.

yep it will make the water bubble like mad when the cars running and the needle slowly rises and just keeps moving up in to red then i obvisly turn it off to stop more damage the fan cuts in bout half way but still doesnt stop it overheating, has anyone else had this problem and when i turn it off bubbles up and water sprays out the headertank even with the cap on ?????????
