I am not sure really what ive got under the hood to be honest.
I no ive got a blue rocket cover but no sure if anyone added any mods and my Rs has been lowered quite a bit on standard Rs 15 inch alloys.
There aint much history about the car and the other owner was about 36 and didnt have a clue.
Had a bloke come round in his tune up van with his computer and tools and he ran a Full system test via his computer and he sed the results was really good with compression test. he sed the emision was meant to be 3 something % BUT IT WAS 10%. so he sorted it all out and it idles around 1000 what it should do and runs so much better.
Before i had him round it was running a bit funny when idleing and sometimes it would die or idle about 2300. which is not good.
But would i payed for it Ł900 he sed i got a bargain. it runs so well now just cant wait to get her on the road and start driving her.
Starts first time and drives without no noise. No smoke and boost really well.
cheers

Do you have a tuner near you that has experience with RS Turbos, if you have take it to him and get it checked over or even better take it to your local rolling road and get a set up so you know its perfect then you can go paxo hunting

i live in Southend in Essex
Not sure where the best place to take it for tuning or rolling road.
any ideas. my mum drove it home when i first got it and she took to 113mph and she got scared. i drove her 1.2 Corsa and she left me but driveing with no Tax at 113mph is not good but she sed it had loads more talk in the speed but she was not gonna push it and that was when it was running with wrong emission setting.
getting the Cambelt and tappets done on monday and then she be ready to to drive her about
But it would be nice to get it set up on rolling road and set the turbo up properly.
cheers

Does the car have a bleed valve or a boost gauge
A non chipped ECU will run about 10psi boost(i think), if its running more boost then it might be, best advice is to take it to the rolling road and let them sort it out

As soon as you have it on the road get it to a tuner before planting your right foot and have it set up properly. I know you had a chap round to sort it but these guys invariably don't know enough about these cars.
Whilst you are having it setup you can ask the tuner whether it is chipped or not. Whereabouts in the country are you?

AVA charge Ł60 for an hour on the rollers
Go somewhere else

T28 RST
$60 for an hour on the rollers, or $120 +vat for up to 2 hours at jamsport, inc setting up...
$120-$150 is about right for a setup, not just a power run as your on about

if it needs parts you will be charged on that, but basically a rs turbo should not need more than 1 hour on the rolling road unless its being tested for other set ups,eg boost, timing etc.. etc...
oh and std rs turbo will have its work cut out against these 2 cars, only when chipped will it wipe the floor

?
Ł150. i would neva pay that for 1 hours work. i payed 40 to have my fuel system cleaned an a full set up on the rollers. u essex lads r payin too much u wana get these welsh rally boys to set ur car up. they build race cars for a livin. and they dnt rip u off!

Both "Jamsport & MSD etc" are buisnesses in the same way AVA are.
Assuming the end result is: your cars being set up correctly its Running Safer power having been optimised.
Both yourself (as the customer) and your selected Tuner (the Trader) are happy with the money that changes hands then Job done.

oh, and neither are in essex
oh, and neither are in essex
but at the end of the day is is down to personal choice of who u and each different person gets to tune there car. there is allways going to be some one cheaper and better if you look hard enough.

i own a 106 gti and a 190hp rs turbo.
the gti will wipe the floor with the escort on anything with bends in it, the escort will wipe the floor with the gti in a straight line!!
i much prefer to drive the gti though , top little car
these are very different cars though.
im absoultly pissing myself though if you think a standard rs turbo will come anywhere near a 106 gti

Not an Escort I know but my Fiesta RST demolished a 106GTi when it was standard power with just the lowering springs on. And my old XR2i dispensed with a couple of friends in their Paxo VTS's. I agree the Escort doesn't handle as well in stock trim but it's about 10 years behind in the development stakes. Nothing a bit of cash can't put right though
