Default series 1 rear disk conversion problems

I'm having alot of trouble getting a good brake pedal. I've just put 2wd drive cossy brakes on the rear and now i can't get a good pedal. I've put a new master cylinder on and new braided hoses. I've bleed the system about 4 times and theres no air in the system and still a s**t pedal. Do you have to by-pass the rear brake compensator as thats the only other thing i can think of?

Cheers

When i changed to Cossie Calipers and disks all round on my XR2i, the pedal went crap, the car would stop but not like it should, i changed the master cylinder to a MK5 Escort Item, and the braking was transformed, everyone that has driven it comments about the brakes.
I bet ya pedal is spongy and the brakes only start to bite when the pedal is 3/4 the way down?

May have to try bigger diamater master cylinders with a shorter stroke, as the MK3/4 escort one is quite long.

I think we've had this one before, if you look at the back caliper the bleed nipple isn't as upright as it should be and is prob holding a bit of air in the caliper

best thing to do is take it off but leave it gripping the disc and move it down so the bleed nipple is 100% vertical then bleed again

I think it was Adam Black RS that had this prob

Just for info, a mk5 escort master cylinder is in actual fact the same size as a mk4 90 spec cylinder??

Ive got the 2wd cossie set up on my cabriolet and my pedal isnt fantastic, fair bit of travel and not that responsive, they are definately bled, as before the pedal went to the floor.

I cant see how putting a mk5 item on is going to benefit if it is the same diameter?

anyone got any ideas?

I think it's in fact the MK5 Fiesta MC that is fitted for a better pedal, although it's not a straight fit. But I know Matt zvhturbo off here has done it and he said it was good. I didn't bother in the end now I have fully removed my ABS my ST fronts and Cossie rears are fantastic

Right, have a look here if you want more info on it: https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=59245

I have retainted my rear load valves, have my ABS removed and the brakes are good. I DID however initially have a terrible pedal, which believe it or not got better over time.... I did bleed the system a few times and in the end got an eezibleed pressure kit which worked well I think my problem was mainly not because of how the rear calipers sit as I never needed to remove mine to bleed but because my brake lines were drained of fluid for about 8 months they were completely dry, same goes for the MC, how I did'nt fook the seals on it I don't know!

I have 2wd Cossie rear calipers and AP 4 pot calipers on the front all being worked by a standard master cylinder and servo and the pedal is mint beyond mintyness.

Try bleeding the system again starting from furthest away from the master cylinder and work closer. Take the calipers off and hold them so that the bleed nipple is pointing upwards if neccessary.

Tried all that, and it made the brakes actually work where as they didnt before.

Pedal is still shit though, passed its MOT though.....so im lost as to whether theres air in the system or not

Running a 23mm aswell, i presume yours is 22mm Daz?
