A few I've used in the last few years that I'd recommend are:
Dominion/Boncaster the RSOC insurers
AON - Are the Insurers for the Ferrari Owners Club and are very sympathetic to 'Classic' car owners
Lancaster Insurance Services - do really good Agreed Valuation Schemes
Elephant.co.uk - Always give them a try, they're never far away from being the cheapest.
Also, I work for a Transport Company in an office role. If I say I am an Admin Clerk instead of my actual job title I save almost £100. In my view I work in an office and deal with paperwork, therefore an Admin Clerk will do for insurance purposes. I can't find a cheaper occupation than that.
Oh, and I pay £200 a year for my S1 - 29Yrs Full No Claims
