Default Rear Disc Conversion on S2

Hi peeps i have a Granada or XR4i rear discs in my garage with calipers hubs etc and would just like to know whether they will bolt straight onto my car? or shud i not fit the hubs and just buy a caliper braket thing?

also anyone know howmuch a RS2000 handbrake cable is?

How hard is it to fit a Bias valve? i dont fancy the rear brakes locking up on me

Hi M8! Im racking my brains here trying to remember the specifics, but from memory & what I recall, Granada Disks & calipers will fit but bring the face of the disk a further 4mm further out, I had this set up a couple of years back and it worked well!

Hopefully someone else can confirm?

Im sure your in the region of £15 for the cable.
A brake proportioning valve was also used.

Sorry the info is a little sketchy but like I say it was a while back!

andy thanx for the reply mate!! much appreciated...so the rear will stick out a further 4mm than with the drums on? if thats the case im happy coz i wanted to space the rears a little to give it a bit more stability on the back (already am on et35 on 17s IIRC)

also was the bias valve hard to fit and setup?

Yeah definatly between 3 & 4mm difference, my 1st set up like you are talking about, had a proportioning valve which differs from a bias valve from the little info I picked up, in that its set up out of the car, and not incar adjustable........from what I gathered it was to ensure braking at the rear in terms of left to right handside was ballanced!

I now run both a bias controll incar(front to rear), and proportioning valve, there was a lot of work in it Yeah! but the handbrake was plumbed into the system at the same time, and new piping all round!

With it being something as important as braking, do get it done professionaly, as so much can go wrong! I've hear of far to many horror storys with either over braked rear's or unbalanced and over braked rears!

Please see the above as merely guidance and not fact, but am 99% confident what Im typing is correct!

Best of luck!

Thats the exact set up on the rear of my car.

Cost breakdown was brackets £35, discs and calipers £15 (scrapyard), cable circa £15 (motorfactors) adjustable bias valve £39. I made up my own hoses from stuff in stock.

Made easier on mine as its plumbed as fronts and rears (ie not diagonal).

Bias valve just goes in the rear line anywhere before it splits. Adjust it to reduce pressure on the rears enough so it stops in a straight line.

Don't think you can fit the hubs as the tie bar set up is different ain't it .....
