Default Need help finishing my XR3i to RS Turbo conversion

Hi everyone,

As the title suggests i am looking for help finishing my xr3i to rs turbo conversion.

I live in Dover, Kent, CT17

It is/was my first attempt at anything like this but sadly the car has sat on the drive for the last 18 months untouched as i have hit the end of my (very limited) skill set. With the usual story of kids, marriage and work i just dont have the time to figure things out anymore.

I have the engine and gearbox in with a few bits bolted on, turbo, intercooler etc and the loom running through the car but now i am pretty much stuck. Im fairly confident i have everything i need to finish the job, there may be the odd small thing that hasnt been noticed, but he engine, gearbox etc came from a friends old car that was scrapped and i took everything (i think).

As well as finishing off the engine bay the car also requires the interior going back in.

Id be there to lend a hand but now what im really after is somebody to do for me. I reckon its a weekends work for somebody that knows what they are doing, all the heavy lifting is done.

Ill upload some photos this weekend when i get chance (and if i can figure out how to).

I am fully aware that this kind of help is never free...

Many thanks

You've already done the hardest part by the sound of it?

I've got some skirting board that needs fitting if anyone's up for it

Agree, sounds like you have done well

Do you have this http://www.burtonpower.com/supplemen...o-mk3-387.html?

It has complete wiring diagrams and test procedures and there are loads of knowledgable and helpful people on this site.
Try to get it wired up and running and this will give you the impetus to complete the interior etc.

And where are the pics??

Personally I would now send it to a specialist that will be able to tune it for you. It has to be done eventually so if you had to pay a little extra for them to finish it off it might be worth while. Save the time for the kids and mrs. Low load it off, pick it up mot'd driving home for show season.

Its MFI.

Pics will be on later today now, got them just not had time to upload.

Its mainly time that is stopping me finishing myself now, i work in london all week so weekends i like to spend with the missis and kids. I got to the stage i am at when i was working a lot closer to home. Plus i have all the bits but in various tubs and boxes, when you dont know what your looking for it can be very time consuming and frustrating. Spending what little time i have getting no where.

Sounds like.a common dilemma to be honest. As we get older priorities change from cars in our spare time to family. Im the same dont get time to work on my own cars anymore so retired them into storage for now. Tea break over so back to work..

Hopefully that done it (like mechanics, photography wont be a career path i venture down any time soon)

Like i say ideally im after someone that can finish it off, for someone that knows there stuff i reckon itd be a weekend. From what i have seen on these forums over the years people have done full conversions over a weekend!

Or any decent garages in Kent that anybody knows of.

Any help is appreciated.
