Default Boot lock question

Hi,

I have a G-reg xr3i and the rear boot doesn't lock.
The central locking works with the key in the door but the rear boot doesn't lock.

Can't anyone advise what I need to do to allow the boot to lock.

Thanks
James

Hi James
there is a motor in the hatch that should control a lever,
the connecting rod between motor and lock may be off
or the power wire to boot motor from shell to hatch may be broken,
as they bend a lot and it is old now
check rod first

Ok will do.
If the wire has been broken, would buying a new boot lock solve the problem and just lock the boot from the boot.

Thank you for the advice

that type of lock is prone to stiffness, check it pushes in and returns out cleanly
some wd may free it,
if it doesn`t come fully out the mechanisn maybe prevented from allowing the key to lock it,, lift hatch remove the plastic trim, flick the lock lever manually to lock and see if the key unlocks it, , check the rod is attatched first and the locking motor is working, sure , if you don`t have a working key for the bootlock you will need 1 for locking manually, otherwise fix the remote function

you can flick the lever inside the hatch if you need it to lock tonight
just pop back seat down tomorrow and flick lever back to unlock
