Weird starting question............
My s2 has an unusual problem. when cold, it takes ages to start, you just keep turning it over for about 30 secs until it starts. when it does start (it always does), it runs brilliantly from cold and ticks over really well when both cold and warm. when hot, the car starts so quickly you hardly hear it turn over!!! quicker than my 2003 focus!!
the car runs fine all the time and everything is working the way it should. i do know the fuel pump has been uprated though but dont know what it is.
its not a prob cause it ALLWAYS starts and runs well all the time.

Speak to RSKieron on here mate, sound like you've got the same problem as he had on his Series1, just needs the fuel pump relay changed
Uprated fuel pump might be slightly effecting something too mate, not sure really tho as i'm far from a mechanic! HTH

Mine wasn't exactly the same problem, but I do know that Mike in Yorkshire had the same problems as me and it's as follows.
On first cold starting the car, it fires up instantly then dies within 3 seconds. If you hold the revs on it will run lumpy for 30 seconds and then be fine.
It's a knackered fuel pump relay that causes it. Funnily enough, mine hasn't done it for a while! As soon as it does I am going to bridge the pins on the relay to test it, then go buy a new relay from the stealership.

no its not like that, it turns over without firing for 30 secs and then it suddenly sparks and starts immediately. when hot, it starts quicker than a speeding bullet. i aint got a clue what this could be! but im not gonna delve because its not really a problem, just slightly embarrassing when my mint escort takes 30secs to start!! lol
