when you say holds back at 5000rpm under load do you mean it misfires ? Could be injectors or fuel pump or the metering head

just had this problem on my s2 changed nearly everything and after spending around £1000 it turned out to be the valve springs. Mine wouldnt pass 5000rpm either and it sounded like it was popping popcorn at 5000rpm dont know though if this could be the same problem has yours.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? Is the fuel pump ok?

Possible charge air temp sensor..

Dunno. It want's diagnosing properly to be honest.

Get it checked for fuel pressure and air to fuel ratio on a wide band lambda meter while on boost.
