Default Identify engine

Hi all, just registered and needing a little help in identifying my engine, lol.
Only bought the car for the better roof and the wheels that were on it, was going to scrap the rest. Anywho turns out to have only done 34k and its rather solid, apart from cosmetics.
Engine I was told to be a fiesta RST, but fiestas have different manifolds and are efi from what I read elsewhere.
Mines is sort of rrectangular inlet manifold.
So can anyone tell me if its S1 or S2?

Tried to get pic up from photo ucket but no luck, so if I could be pointed in right direction to tell difference it would be greatly appriciated.

fiestas did come with two different inlet manifolds biggest give away would be if it has a metering unit on it. it will have a air filter on there and a few normally red fel likes running from it to the inlet. if it has this it will be a mfi engine from the s2-s1

hope this helps a picture would help alot tho

Alright, looks like im a complete monkey, its a efi exactle same as top pic.
I've got no idea where ive been looking to see a rectangular manifold.
So with it being a fiesta engine will I hang my head and leave, lol
Or because it in a escort can I stay?

The engines are essentially the same, both 1.6 CVH's, so no need to hang your head in shame! lol

Just needed re assurance as to which engine I have, as needing a new sump and don't know if there all the same. Also can you buy new sumps with the oil drain in the sump or do they need to be modified to have the drain direct into sump?

if its a genuine turbo cvh engine the oil return will be into the block not the sump.

Looks like EFi CVH in your pic. Can just make out the ICV on the inlet manifold. One way to be sure is to check for a crank sensor on the block just above the starter motor Non-efi engine won't have this.

Oil return was modified to sump from former owner, have invoiced for sump being modified to take oil return, I had thought this was due to using cossie turbo needed a larger diameter return.

have a look on the front of the block for signs of the original oil return if its there is ok, if not then it could be a N/A block from a xr3i or xr2i and would need to be swapped out as soon as you can.
also iirc there should be no extra work need for a cosworth turbo apart from different down pipe.

The turbo fitted oil return pipe is being used to feed the turbo and heading off to the left of the bay (held on by one bolt) and I think I can make out the return into the sump down to the left?
Interesting water cooling feed setup too.
What is that pipe into flexi hose running over the throttle body?

I know I need a new oil feed. That's one that was made up only so the car can be started and moved, or are you saying this is actually the return that's being used to feed?

Pipe running over throttle body was one of my next queries. its connected to a thing with a copper coil in it. One side goes to inlet manifold, one to dump valve, can't be right though as dump valve doesn't open, just get chatter if you rev and let go.
I've never worked on a turbo car before, so there's a few bits that aren't familiar with me, but it was cheap and apart from needing fettled with seems to run well. So I'll learn as I go, with some advice from some knowledgable sorts from here I hope

basically you have a t2 oil feed and a t3 turbo. it does look like you have a oil return stuck on the top but you havent.. what we can see is the top of the turbo and a rubber hose coming off the oil restrictor lol

A friend apparantly has the correct oil feed for this turbo to fit this engine, just waiting on it to appear though.
And there has been a oil return in the front of the block, just above sump. Big bolt in it to block it cause mines is direct to sump.

you would tee it into the vac pipe on the left had side of the inlet(as you look at the engine)... it would tee into where you have a boost gauge if you have one Name: 010-1_zps92eb02da.jpg

Yep have a boost gauge, its teed in almost at the dump valve, which is coming off this thing on the left hand side of inlet manifold.
