I been looking into doing a zvh, rung simon up at sitech racing and he said use a 2.0 blacktop block, hes got a special headgasket what blanks the extra oil galleries of, got to enalrge the water pump hole for cvh waterpump, block te breather on front and put one on the back and put a oil return in, so that sounds pretty sinple, so half tempted to go down that route,

St170 engine, sell the head after nicking the springs. Fit a std blacktop head with the st170 springs and a thicker focus rs gasket.

to be honest a zvh these days is a waste of time for what it costs you may as well go zetec turbo, get a 2.0 zetec use a focus rs manifold (inlet and exhaust)and turbo (plenty for sale due to upgrades) good strong 200 plus engine for less than a worked unreliable cvh

Bit of an update

Took the rest of the conrod caps of today, to check the other bearings, they all the same, with a few score marks, checked the crank and i think i maybe lucky, theres a few marks, but carnt feel them, il post a few pictures up ina bit, i guess with the conrod bearings gone like tht, thats the reason to why i get low oil pressure when its warm?

Cheers bill

If the main bearings are fine yea re-use them defo and yea re-use the main cap bolts But if your rods had ARP bolts in then get a new ones, but if they are the standard bots then re-use them if that's what u ment

Main cap bolts ======== =========RE-USE
Conrod bolts ==================RE-USE ( only if they are standard )
Main bearings/shells if in nickgood ==== RE-USE

Check for play in the crank in and out as u mite need thrust bearings as well. Crank mite need to get re ground for over size thrust bearings ( they sit in the middle of the crank and are thin half moon shapped pieces of metal lol

no probs.

an engine stand is a must for anyone who is messin round with engines, its hard working off the floor or bench, especially when u need to keep flippin the engine round

Machine mart do a good engine stand, cheap as well:

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...C-engine+stand

this is the I got and is spot on.

Looks like it was caused by dirt when the engine was built. I'd strip it down check the crank and replace the bearings.

But didn't you also have issues with low compression?

That sounds okay, sounds good, how much is management etc then?

Regarding the shells, i did wonder that myself, crank seems okay so hoping i can just replace the shells, i did have problems with low compressionon one of the cylinders, but believe thats the head, as the valve jacket had lots of pit marks and was rough on the edge, so think it was leaking through, checked the bore lining and all seem okay no score marks or cracks, cheers bill
