Done the head gasket on my rs turbo and put a different head on, so sealed my dizzy over etc, had issues Tuesday with car spluttering boost gauge was going round car was holding back so did my checks and we've ended up advancing timing for it to run right, now this morning it was a bugger to start how can I set this its a standard rs turbo no chip standard can running 8 psi cheeRS
Take off the dizzy cap, and loosen the dizzy bolts
On the dizzy edge of the dizzy is a very small slit/ timing mark, line this with the centre of the metal strip on the rotar arm and tighten everything up and fit cap on
BUT I bet money when you fitted the head and timed it up the belt was spot on and if you align the timing marks now its a tooth out on the bottom pulley, seen it a million times and brought countless rs's cheap because of it
Don't panic if it is it's just fitted wrong

belt......... is it a tooth out?
if it is its normally because people fit the left hand side of the belt first and dont tension the right first.....
if it is line both and pull the right hand side of the belt up and over the cam pulley and leave the slack on the left and the tensioner will sort it, if you do it the other way when you push the tensioner across it pulls the bottom pulley out a tooth.
