Hi, I have done this.. I went to a breakers yard and picked up some struts from a Kia MPV...
Main things you need to know are:
- the rams need to be short ones, otherwise they catch on the arch...
- be prepared to have a lot of trial and error with finding where to attach the end to the bonnet, because the initial movement of the rams is so hard and the bonnet length is basically a long lever, if you mount it too high, it will bend the inside of bonnet just above where the pivot is ( I found out the hard way as you can see by the demts in the pictures haha ).i think mind is slightly toward the front of the middle of the 2 mounting bolts if that makes sense...
Works like a treat and I think it is a very good modification if you are not keeping your car standard : )

You could try but if you do that then the struts would be slightly angled inward and will apply too much side pressure and could bend bits... You don't know til you try though : )
With bonnet lifters - it will still work, but you may need 2 mounting holes on the bonnet side for if you want to change between having the bonnet raisers on or off as the extra height will change the angle that the bonnet mounts onto hinges therefore affecting how much effort you need to initially move the ram... But like I say, the mounting areas will be different for whatever size rams you choose so unfortunatly it's just trial and error - unless you buy exactly the same ones as me and I will send you the dimensions : )

Haha , the way I did it was I held the bonnet open at the height I wanted it, then go someone to hold the ram in the rough position that it would be, I then drilled the 2 holes in the arch and mounted the bottom.
Then I used some L shaped aluminium which I drilled the holes which mount it to the bonnet pivot and attached it, and drilled a centre hole on the upright ,roughly in the middle, attached the ball pivot bolt and then attached the ram, did the same the other side and tested, I had 3 attempts with the aluminium before it was perfect, first it was too hard to push the bonnet down and it bent the bit above, second time it wouldn't hold the bonnet up... 3rd time worked perfect, so filed the edges and left it as it is for now.. Will paint it and smarten it up when I get a chance haha.
Hope this helps
