Best paint to refurbish fuel tank?

iv painted mine and a couple of mates tanks in basecoat and 2k clear, but obviously thats with a gun. id say base and clear in aerosol, but aerosol clear doesnt exactly go down thick, nor is it the most hard wearing.
the best finish will come from base and clear, so maybe go this route, but try and get the aerosol clear in 2k, not the usual crappy 1k. most decent bodyshop supply places will stock it. will cost a bit more, but at least its going to be decent stuff, and u can get a fairly decent finish with it, for a can anyways lol
other than that, going to be limited to the usual aerosol hammerite paints or similar
