Default Efi ecu position

Has any one mounted an EFI ecu on the bulk head where the MFI one is located? Im thinking about mounting mine there as i dont want to drill a hole in the bulk head if i dont have to.Any info would be appreciated thanks.

Thats what i was thinking, ive not heard of anyone doing it though. Most people ive spoke to just drill a hole and put it in the car.I dont really want to do that if i dont have to.I was going to make a 2 peice bracket to bolt onto the original ecu plate so its also easily removable. I was also going to weld an L shaped peice on the top of the original holder to make sure no water could get into it.The only thing that i can think might be a problem is the heat in the engine bay thats why im hoping someone has done it already and could advise me.

It's cooler in the engine bay than inside the car under heater matrix. Especially up behind the heater box.

I imagine its probably due to maybe not having a sealed ecu case (havent checked an EFI case)? Or maybe cause of the shape of the loom they use?

I've just done an efi conversion on a series 2 and thought about mounting the ecu there but looking at the ecu, it isn't sealed like a series 2 one so i extended the wiring and mounted it in the glovebox in the original bracket allowing it to be removed easily still!

Like Gadget above says! The ofac/ofab isn't a sealed enclosure so has to be mounted in the car. I would highly recommend drilling the bulk head and painting the hole before fitting a nice grommet. The inside of the car is far FAR cooler than the engine bay in the escorts. Behind the gearstick is a good position or on top of the glove box (thats where mine is). You can use a standard ford bracket out of an XR3i to mount it.

.

I've already given you a genuine Ford bulk head grommet. Get it in side, wait, that'll be my job
