I'm doing the same, its good fun.

Basically browse ebay every night for 'escort RS Turbo' and 'Mk4 Escort'. All the bits I've found have been practically pennies, (amongst the over priced stuff)

I used to restore old Hondas, VTEC civics etc, everything for them and i mean everything is big bucks. The Ford stuff if like a breath of fresh air. (for the bank account!)

Mines Mercury grey too. Best colour. In my opinion!

if you struggle to find parts give Dan at H&B auto a ring they break mk4 escorts and other old fords, I got a large part of my parts from them.

If you can save it much better original rst I'd is worth double the same car after a reshell

boot floor gone sills both sides inner and outer plus inside arches both sides also around the fuel filler gone and 3 patches in the drivers footwell and scuttle panel i was going to cut the panels from my bonus as they all have ford stamps on them but would be easier to reshell it. it would be nice to keep its original id but im not doing it to sell as this is my sixth rst and i wish i had kept them all

i bought my first and i have probly driven it 200 meters MAX ! started strippin it due to couple patches of rust that ended up being, Inner and outer sills both sides inner outer rear arches both sides scuttle, some patching up on slam pannel and its now waiting for a respray, after that much more mods like a full poly bush .... despite only ever being a passenger and havin driven the car so little I LOVE HER ! and all the hours ive spent will be worth it ! .... besides the resto is half the fun aint it ?

Mines had both front floors, inner and outer sills both sides, inner and outer rear arches both sides, back panel, front panel, fuel filler section, sunroof tray, both rear chassis rails and a couple of plates in the boot, a full respray all underside stripped resealed and painted, polybushed all round just got to rebuild engine now lol should have done a resto thread but I've been doing a folder of my progress instead. A lot of work to say I've had it on the road for a year before I started but as above I love working and messing with it. Just give yourself a break if you get fed up and the enthusiasm will return best of luck mate.

dont reshell her, she wont be genuine, restore the original shell, you need a mig welder only 140 ebay, buy panels from either ebay or andrew page if one local, angle grinder and discs to cut out parts, i went to a fabricators to show me how to weld, i was there 3 hours working on random scrap metal, so easy to weld he didnt charge me anything her was happy to help, to be honest the fun does come from stripping her out and doing the welding, id rather that than moving stuff to another shell, that in my books is far to much messing with interior and engine loom etc, mig welder, angle grinder, new panels and some tiger seal, easy and fun oh and quicker in the long run
