Default Focus rs gearbox in a s2

whats involved in fitting a mk1 focus rs gearbox in a s2? thinking about going down this route but don't want to have to have to re-paint the engine bay due to welding mounts etc,

cheers

+1 the frs box loves abuse and rarely lets you down plus quaiffe atb diff as standard in them.It is a good idea but as said will need engine bay painting THERES A LOT of big power mk1 frs running on the standard box with no issues be interesting to see how this pans out

hi mate could you get some pics up of the conversion as this is no doubt prob one of the best mods to do when going big power the frs mtx has revised gear ratios to the standard mtx 75 and the quaiffe diff so cant go wrong really just wondering how neat it looks in the engine bays

What have people done regarding speedo?
Does the focus box have a speed sensor and reverse switch?
Do the shafts line up fine?

Here are some pics but I've had a good look at the conversion and DO NOT recommend mounting on the cradle. I haven't shown it in the pictures but they have had to cut far too much metal out the rear of the cradle to allow the selectors to fit. Also they have had to nibble the inner wing, even though he told me that he hadn't lol!

Using this conversion on my cvh engine, just wondering if I need to get a bellhousing that moves the starter to the front or is there anyway I can use the original even thouh it looks like the starter will foul the oil filter.
