Default rst vs poverty spec wrx

i know this will probably sound a bit MO but would an rst with a stage3 turbo, about 20psi be able to give a wrx (std) a run for its money? im talking about straight line, point to point ect.

I'd say so. The bottom line Impreza's are only 220 odd bhp are they not? At motorway speeds my brothers Volvo s60 (180bhp) had no trouble keeping up with one to an indicated 140.

the rst in question is more or less std. has scorpion exhaust, radtech fmic, .48 t3 with 60 trim and about 1.5 bar. i reckon about 180-190hp. does go well. ps, its mfi

once upon a time i had a uk spec impreza turbo 2000 with about 220 + bhp and on one occasion i was well beat off the lights by a series 1, not a little bit but proper beat me, so escorts can beat scoobys but them wrx's are more like 280 bhp

I'm not a scooby fan but I must confess to once owning a WRX Wagon, was the jap import all standard and whilst I hated it I must say it was bloody fast. 4WD and good diffs and suspension are a big edge over an old Escort and even a standard car coming on boost is quite fierce, then they are geared better for high speed.

Of course all in my opinion but in my experience I'd say you'd need a decent spec Escort to get near a WRX scooby.

100% yes, 200 bhp rst has no problems with a standard(ish) classic wrx...... until you find some corners.

Transmission losses and extra weight of the Scooby favor the RS.

Easy win against a UK spec model but a 280 bhp import would be a bit of a struggle especially from a standing start

Thing is how many stand wrxs do you see.

I gave 1200 for one a few months back. Tdo5 turbo kit and a 3" system. Kicks out a nice solid 300bhp. Once on Boost goes like proverbial of a shovel. Properly converted me lol. Hate driving my Rs turbo now.

Rob,
Sounds about right. Problem is you never really know if the cars are standard.
Both standard Scooby would make an RST look silly.

At that boost pressure on a .48/60 T3 you should be around 240bhp IME.
