Default What Chip to run?

Hi guys and girls, was just wondering what chip u would recommend to use for the ERST...the engine is currently COMPLETELY standard (even running standard hoses!)...however will be ordering a GRS intercooler and a chip soon...

the turbo and actuator are in good condition and the engine has done around 60k miles!

on the cards for the engine is the following:

stage 3 head
low comp'd bottom end
stage 3 turbo
piper 285t2 cam
GRS intercooler
ARP bolts

thats about it.

would the above spec change what chip i need? or doesnt it matter?

thanx in advance

Hmm... Good question. I run a collins performance one in mine - it has no boost limit and seems to fuel the car fairly well - but I haven't tried others so can't make any comparisions but heard Ahmed Bayjoo chips are good.

The collins one i've got is their unlimited boost one - so will run anything. It might be a case that it overfuels slightly with lower I.e. under 14psi boost levels but you have to make some kinda compromise i suppose.

NMS or Turbosystems

I wouldnt go for an off the shelf stage 3 head, apparently they flow well on the bench but not the car!

A piper t2 cam would also make the car way to laggy.

Speak to Karl Norris about doing a head and cam to your spec,it will make a huge difference.

Trust me

Gaz, yes mate I do go to Mikeanics, and He's good as far as tuning goes, but I've got an MF2 on mineand unforunatley it needs to be live mapped, ie. while being driven on the road, which I don't think Mike does, but for everything else he's good What car you got mate?

From what I know, seriously ported heads flow the best but create more lag, I used to have a 285t2 in mine, which was fine till I put a stage 3 turbo on it. The combination gave me huge amounts of lag, and I do mmean huge, all the power was between 5000rpm and 6500rpm, I've changed to a 285T and its alot better

The only raider I can think of is a navy one with centre exit, if thats not it I'll have to keep a look out for it

I'd agree with Trey bout the t2 cam and stage 3 turbo causing loadsa lag - cos that was my previous spec. The new lumps still got a t2 cam but using the ceramic bearing turbo really has made it work well - just pulls and pulls now
