Carbon Roof Advice
i wanted to get rid of sunroof so i tacked in a shedload of horizontal lateral longitudial and diagonal bracing
drilled out every spot weld
and replaced the entire roof skin with a non sunroof skin
easier than doing a sill tbh
never gonna rust or flex
more importantly it wont leak

Cannot believe people are cutting there roofs and fitting a piece of plastic and
expecting the shell to performe the same in a crash,
Even if you fit a rear cage it wont have any affect on a head on ,
Carbon roof = weld in cage
Safety first
first aid last

Just ordered my Safely devices 6 point rollcage. Theres 1 left on ebay with 18hrs remaining at Ł460. I've spoke to the seller over the phone and he says its unlikely the rollcage will be re-listed.

And is there not cars that come from factory now days with carbon roofs and no cages ..
Mate we drive escort that's maddness before u cut a roof off

The cars were originaly crash tested with a full roof before full manufacturing
The manufacturers will do the minimum they can get away with to pass the crash test
As to keep costing down,,
Yes it passed a crash test at a very reasonable 30 mph new with a full roof
20 years on with a piece of plastic fitted !!!!!

If your worried about safety you shouldn't be in an escort
In all seriousness though i can see the arguement for a cage but i can also see where the others are coming from. Personally i'd find a way to strengthen the shell if i wanted to keep a full interior.
Having said that i'm too lazy so mine can stay as it is!

i dont really no anything about carbon fibre but i remember when ronnie amis left his bonnet (one of phils) on his garage floor and he forgot and drove the car over it. there was not a mark on it!
Yeh that can be done mate lucky to get away with it but yes it could be done but that a massive differentl situ compared to shell stiffness ect
