Default rs turbo cabs??

Hi ive got an escort rs turbo efi thats a bit rotten but a brilliant engine setup, also have an xr3i cab thats very solid, was supposed to be getting an rs shell off a mate for £1000 that needs an engine, full respray, mot tax, n has sat for 2 years but solid.
Is it worth keeping the money and just dropping the engine, suspention, brakes etc out of my rs into my cab?
My question is has anybosy got
an rs cab and do the handle well with rst engines in them?

soft tops of any kind arent my cup of tea but theres some nice ones around. how do they compare handling wise to a tin top?

Your sunroof aint gonna rot on a cabrio, infact cabrios don't seem to rot anything like tin tops.

I've got an XR3i cabby that I've almost completely reshelled my old RS Turbo into.*

It has complete RS Turbo running gear inc front and rear anti-roll bars, Koni adjustables, AVO -35mm springs and polybushes all round so I don't really notice any body roll. With the MFi '3i engine in there it was a pleasure to drive and was easily thrown into corners.*

I'm 75% complete on the EFi turbo conversion now. I've set myself the deadline of June 1st to get it finished. I'll let you know how it goes wih that engine in it.

Here she is:

I'd say if you don't mind the cabby then reshell into that. It won't fetch as much in the long run but it will keep you entertained. Imagine being able to hear even more of those lovely turbo sounds as you won't have a roof in the way!!

They were built by karmann iirc i've built 3 of them and none of them had any rot whatsoever. They were all great fun, handling was ok, but it was all about the sun out - roof down with a burbling Magnex keeping you company.

After i've got an M3 and enough space to do it, I will build another one day.

cabs also have more stengthening due to the none tin top, they do tend to be alot rot free than tin tops tho, do it and put a build thread up

Had 3 cabs,1 rat powered which was 164 bhp atw,17 inch diamond cuts, spax suspension,-40mm,half leather recaros and finished in aquafoam blue.handled great, feels more solid to me except when you hit a big pothole, there's hooks on the doors which catch into catches on the 1/4's which stiffen the shell also, make sure they are there.
I'd have another in a minute if I had an excuse to buy 1!

Cab's flex like fuck (get a passenger to look at where the door meets the windscreen and rear quater) when being driven hard and dont handle anything like a tin top!
Still plenty of fun on the road though and I wouldnt have anything else!
