Default Gearbox

My current gearbox in my S2 ERST is a matter of miles from being completely useless, therefore I'm looking for a replacement.
I've been quoted £300 for a second hand one or £500 for a reconditioned box(not fitted). The car is currently pretty much standard but future plans do include power in access of 200bhp therefore I'm afraid a 2nd hand box will be knackered within months.
I was wondering if anyone can help/advise me.

p.s. I live near Manchester (in case theres anyone locally who could sort it)

Theres a guy in Westhoughton mate, I've heard good reports about. I can't remember the name or number but he advertizes in fast ford at the back. His ad always says "gearbox trouble?" (funnily enough ) I'm at work at the moment so i can't get the number but if you need it pm me and I'll find it for you.

Dunno if you're on about 'Geartorque'???? If so, i wouldn't touch em....had so much trouble from them when i bought one of their boxes! First one they sent had a cracked casing.....2nd one appeared ok but when fitted all the seals leaked covering a brand new clutch in oil! As well as this the 2nd box wasn't a true rst box, and they tried blamin the leaks on the qualified mechanic who fitted it! Got another one out of em in the end....promised compensation for the £££ i spent gettin em fitted, delivery charges, hassle etc but never saw a penny! worst service and attitude i've ever had!

www.gearboxman.com

I have a Stage 2 Plus (about £1300) box off Bernie and it's holding up alright so far. Not running huge power though at the moment....

There is a stage 1 and stage 2 box which are cheaper obviously....

Mines running about 190ish & the box is out of a XR2, but is holding out pretty good. Standard clutch is nearly fecked though & it hasnt been in for long, but i was expecting that. Only thing is, no LSD. But like i said, surprised its held out for this long.
