Default koni suspension top thread length now with PICS!

dont know why last thread locked???

do i just need to tighten the nut with shorter thread as it is or do i need to compress the spring, fully extend the shock and then tighten the nut? or can i just fit them as they are?

Id say the longer 1 is possibly missing the bearing that sits under the cup?
Take the spring top cups off and make sure the right spacers etc are under each one, from memory its a spring cup, then a bearing then a thick washer. make sure they r both the same, as theres def something not quite right there!

Just viewed the pic, then went down to post my reply, but my answer would be the same as above. 'Bearing' theres too much of a gap between each strut 'cup'

Take the nuts of and have a look, while your at it fit new bearings

Ok will have to borrow a mates spring compressors ... Where can I get new bearings from? Can I just take them off the shocks that are currently on my car?

This should help you check the correct components are in each shock.

Never needed spring compressors for this job on my Escort
Springs are not that tight, specially red ones (some kind sporty or lowering).

Yeah the lowered springs are not under tension off the car, so no spring compressors required!

The drawing above is perfect, i reckon number 5 is missing from yours, its the bearing. Either reuse your standard bearings or order new from ford!
