Default *** Buyer beware: H181HCT - Escort RS Turbo S2 ***

Thought I'd share this with the people of Passionford. Last November we bought a Red Escort RS Turbo on ebay, H181HCT. We went up 300 miles to Yorkshire way, to the dealer that was selling it.

Looked absolutely lovely on the pics, only problem was a small dent to the N/S rear wheelarch. There was plenty of pics of the driver's side, but only a vague one of the N/S. When we got there we could see that the car had suffered a heavy N/S rear shunt, which had pushed the rear quarter forward. The dent in the arch was actually a large crease. It was so bad that the gap between the door and the quarter was about as wide as a fag paper. The N/S rear wheel actually sits a lot closer to the rear of the car than the other side. Under the carpet on the boot floor was creased badly as well.

The bloke apologised and said he hadn't a clue about the damage. He then said he was going to probably scrap it. I agreed - it was that bad and I walked away.

Reason I'm posting this now is that the same dealer is selling H181HCT again on a different account. Maybe it's reshelled now, but I'm sure I can still see a crease on the N/S arch, and again there isn't a full profile picture of the passenger side.

Just marking your cards people - I wouldn't want anyone to make a costly mistake.

Thats not been reshelled. i think i can see the crease as you mentioned and can see the wheel sits to far 'off centre' too. Seems an idiot not telling people about the damage. Think people need to msg him asking what condition the car is in and any damage etc. Disgusting.

Even if he had reshelled it, it's still on the same number plate so it's now a ringer. I notice the lack of N/S photos, also.

hes reduced the price by about 4/500 quid aswell, used to be like £2295 . why cant people just be honest , i dare say he would sell the car quicker if he was truthful in the ad, so when people go to see it, they aint dissapointed or wasting their time. Id still have it tho just not at that price lol

If he got it from a garage hes covered, and has rights i'd be taking it back along with links to every page linked to the car.

I sent the guy a message when he had it advertised and pointed him in the direction of this thread but he replied saying it sold for more than the asking price by then.

He didn't seem to give a fuck to be honest.

Here's the original pictures from last year. These are what made us travel to the other end of the country. I found them today:

Notice how the passenger door is ajar. Disgusted that he has managed to rip someone off with this motor.

What winds me up is that when I called him about it originally, I said, "I need a good one, it's for the missus, and there'll be our kids in it." He said it was lovely, only thing was a ding on the arch - he reckoned he'd just knocked it.

Even after travelling all that way, with an 8 year old, and a pregnant missus, they still were trying to tell me that there was nothing wrong with it.

Some people are scum.
