Default Cylinder Head Core Plug

What is the best/easiest way to remove the core plug in the cylinder head?mine i leaking very slightly i know they are pressed in its just getting old one out.

Which one mate? I normally tap them on one side until i can pull the exposed sode out with pliers...

Its the one above the gearbox, as i was cehcking over the engine bay saw some coolant marks and followed them back to the core plug weeping a little,the plug itself is only £2 from ford its just getting old one out without makin more work for myself.

One of the little ones?

You could drill a hole in the centre, and use a slide hammer to pull it out.... or screw a self tapper in there and use that.

I would probably use a self tapper and a pair of pliers, then knock one side of the plug in (tilting the opposite side out), as soon as you've done that you've won.

Installing the new one is as simple as drifting it in.

Its 38mm i think, i think the self tapper is the answer as i dont want swarf goin inside the head/cooling system.

Sorry mate i can't picture where it is (ill look at my head when im home) but just knock it through on one edge if its that big, then grab the other edge with some mole grips.
