Default RS Turbo Clutch

Just recently got myself an '84 Cab with RS Turbo Conversion. This was owned by a work colleague and was sat up for 6 months. He had no issue with the car whatsoever so I taxed it and started taking her up the road.

Got to the end of the road and could not select gear at all - just wouldnt go into any gear at all, until you switch it off.

When switched off, it'll go into gear but will jump forward when trying to start. He's trying to currently find the reciepts for it to see if it has an uprated clutch in it (Previous owner spent a fortune on it so could be possible!)

Had a look around the forum and there is alot about the MK5 mod + Metal quadrant - ordered one up but not sure if this will cure it. It just feels as if the clutch isnt engaging enough (checked cable for stretch, couldnt get any movement at the gearbox end with the clutch fuly down). He never an issue with it before, pulled like a train, no problem at all.

Was just wanting to see if anyone else had this problem before I start to take the box out!!

Cheers in advance
Adam

Just been out to the garage once again to have another look.

Seems I can pull the Clutch pedal up a good inch or so - contributing factor??

I have heard somewhere that if you have an uprated clutch from the likes of AP you must have the uprated pedal and quadrant otherwise it might not disengage the clutch properly . So the bits you've ordered may cure the poblem . Is the clutch pedal firmer than standard ??

Thanks for the ideas folks - will wait till the pedal comes through and give it a shot. Can only try!

hi mate,

if its a paddle then the pedal mod is needed.

The courier should be collecting from mine on monday, so will be with you soon.

if its a paddle clutch then the pedal mod is not need if you use a

paddle clutch plate with a standard cover which makes it nice to drive as well
