series 2 electrical fault
hi all just bought myself a beautiful h plate series 2 4 days ago after owning a couple in my younger days i am over the moon with it she is very clean however i have a problem whereby the indicators do not work when i want to use them as turning signal but they do work when i put hazards on? also the fans do not blow at all inside the car....which i like to have on to get some heat out the engine bay come rain or shine!! hope someone can help i have checked every fuse and all ok i hve took stalk off and seems ok and upon putting it back on the indicators did work for ten minutes? hope you more knowledgeable guys can help...thanks

With the indicators do you get a rapid clicking from the relay? If so the switch is the problem, you need to take it apart and clean the contacts, the beeswax inside dries out, so either re apply some of this if you can or light grease, the main problem lies with the hazard switch as it's never really used and all leccy goes via it.
If the heater motor is not working at all you need to start at the basics first, the fuse is good, so check you have power at one of the fuse terinals WITH the ignition on, then look at the switch next to make sure it has power to it, if so it's likely the switch or resistor pack is at fault, so look at that and if thats good work toward the motor.

a few minor problems 1 being the fault with the electrics in this thread also been advised to change both 40a yellow relays inside engine bay fuse box 2nd being there is a crack in rear bumper but i already have one that is going to be painted then fitted also the wheels it has a big brake cossie conversion and stadards dont fit over calipers but nothing a set of diamond cut rs7's wont sort

3 problems with it really 1 is the fault in this thread which has also stopped the rad fan working so i wired up a switch to the cab....also has a cracked back bumper which i already have a replacement for gonna have it painted asap....also the wheels are not too nice but it has big brake cossie conversion so the standards dont fit over calipers but nothing a diamond cut set of rs7's wont sort.....also on a side note i want a dump valve and a boost gauge....i am not one to wrap these things incotton wool this car will be used it will never be concourse but it is nice enough and fast enough for me it will go off the road during winter however.

ok guys an update for all i managed to find the problem it was the yellow relay furthest from the wing in the engine bay fuse box....as i pulled it out i got about 1/4 way out and fans and everything burst into life so just a bad connection all fixed now!!
