rear discs conversion, bled 3 times and still spongey?????

Default rear discs conversion, bled 3 times and still spongey?????

hi done a rear disc conversion on my escort mk4 and bled them 3 times, when i push my foot on the brake there really spongy? i cant get my car through an mot until i sort this! anybody got any ideas please help me??????

If the convertion means the calipers dont seat on the car at the same angle as they did on the car there are off they may still be air in them.

You need to make sure the bleed nipple is at the highest point when bleeding them, may have to unbolt them from there mounts just to bleed them and put them back on to test the pedel (I had the same prob on a kit car a while ago took me a while to figure it out.)

So u dont think ill be needing comoensators or anything like that?

couldn't say it was just something simple you should check as it had me stumped for a while and turned out to be really simple.

undo the caliper bolts and hold the piston vertical as the rst brackets dont make the bleed point the highest point of the caliper,therefore trapping air.if the problem persists its time to ditch the abs,i had to do both to mine when i fitted discs before the spongeyness went away.

Ok done all that and they spot on now, cheers car can go in for mot now cheers

See when you fitted the rear discs and calipers, do you have the hand brake cable at the top or bottom of the caliper?
