Default newbie here.... need help with my s2 knocking noise

Hi. im new here and need some help. i brought my turbo last year, ive not used it since i collected it. it had a slight tapping noise so i removed the camshaft and lifters they were worn so i brought a camshaft kit and replaced them, valve stem seals, water pump and cambelt and the noise is still there but its more of a slight knocking!! bit worried now mightbe something bad like bottom end or the oil pump!! its there on tick over and when you increase the rpm.. someone said it couldbe the turbo?? can anyone help me please... thanks

Ive never known a turbo to make a tap or knocking noise.does sound like your bottom end if it a knock noise.hard to tell without hearing it ourselfs...
Get under the motor on idle, should be louder if its bottom.does it knock through the rev range? Any signs of oil loss, heavy breathing, smokey?

Hi people. I gave it a full service when I changed the cam, no smoke or heavy breathing. Sounds more like the top end to me. Do new camshafts have to be run in? Cheers

Failing to run a cam in will give premature wear and even a dead cam.

sounds like it could be a lunched head to me, could also be low oil pressure.

does it sound like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_BizQXw04Q

these rattles were caused by low oil pressure and a scored tappet seat

Hi again. I'll run the camshaft in after work. And see Whats happens. What should the oil pressure be? I can get hold of a oil pressure gauge.

AFAIK

If you haven't ran the cam in its not something you can do at a later date

Hi. The car hasn't done 2miles since it was fitted so I'm hoping I can still get away with it. Haven't had chance today. Thank you everyone for all your help
