Default Whos done the IB5 swap?

Think i've just about finished fitting the ib5, its a front starter and now has my bc lsd fitted.

BUT i've had to really mess around with the release bearing, any one got any part numbers?

Also

I need a clutch arm bush as it didn't come with one, my bc bush didn't fit, might a late bc bush fit? as i can't find one specific to the ib5

Cheers

main shaft.
You need a bearing to fit yes?
If so is it a 35mm you need?

thats what i thought karlos, so i bought the later larger one and its still too small

My gearbox came with a sticker that said, must fit over sized release bearing... finis number **** So i bought that and it was the same as the larger ib5 bearing

Its all good fun i guess.

a bit off topic but when you fit the ib5 box do you use the standard clutch kit and just swap the release bearing or do you have to swap pressure plate as well

Unfortunately not i've already removed it. I got so pissed off in the end i ground down the case and pressed on a new smaller sleeve which means i can use the release bearing i bought, HOWEVER i can see it casing problems so just wanted future options.

Now i just need a clutch arm bush as the new box doesn't have one

also! how difficult should the clutch arm be to fully depress by hand? mine seems amazingly stiff, this may just be because of the arm bush..... just trying to work out if there is something that could stop the clutch being released?

I am using an rst clutch kit, the only thing you have change clutch wise is the release bearing.

Rob,
i have that setup on the iB5. Lsd fitted to mine too.

you need the changeover year release bearing, the Zetec one slips the clutch like fuck (trust me ) and cvh one doesn't fit at all which you've already found out.

Oh cock. Any ideas on part number? the one i have is from an escort rs2k which was supposed to be the correct one, its the same height as the cvh one so shouldn't (touch wood) slip due to the clutch not fully engaging.

At the time i did go into ford and ask for a change over year bearing but the guy just looked at me blankly.

The bearing you need should be part number 6164967 i think mate, its a mk5b one.

You also need the speedo drive (red one) and the breather pipe.

When you put that part number into google it comes up with this one? Was told this is deffo the one you need but not tried it yet, can anyone else confirm? It states cosworth but apparently fits all older type transits to

My box came with a sticker saying MUST USE FINIS NUMBER 6847097. This wasn't correct for my box, it was from an rs2000 4x4 (i think).

What breather do i need to get?

And Jaiscossie that is not the correct bearing, it it will not work with the rst clutch arm AFAIK,

I THINK, a mk5 diesel van. It has front bottom mount starter. So far.. i think its probably this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/escort-van-car...item25616d55cd

Not sure on ratios and mine was a recon unit. If you look in the second picture you can see the style of release bearing you need.

Mine came with a reverse light switch, different to an RST, the only thing to do IMO is to get a reverse light switch and connector from fords (or who ever) and wire it into your car. You won't be able to put your rst switch onto the IB5

I've got the speedo drive, but you can just use your RST one as its the same. Every thing SEEMS to work minus the reverse light switch and the release bearing.....

In another post i found this below.

you'll need the changeover year release bearing, as both the CVH or ZETEC wont fit.

I have had to buy a larger (but flat) release bearing from a 95-00 escort diesel to fit over the input shaft of the gearbox

The release bearing on the Ib5 box is different did you change it?

theres a crossover year circa 95 / 96 i think.

I got given a different part number which was still wrong. However that deffo isn't the type you need unless you have a different style of clutch fork.

This is the type you need

With the wings for the fork to hook into.

Drop 10th_racer a PM bud, he has the part number written down from when he fitted his IB5.

On another note, I still need to have a look for a fuel sender loom for ya

Yes but that will probably be with a bc box. The ib5 diesel's have a larged dia release bearing. My rst one will not fit.

For now i have ground the shaft slightly smaller and pressed on a new cage part and have fitted the bearing from the rs2000. BUT its not totally free moving and im not sure if its the correct height (ie my clutch might not fully engage).

I knew i should have just fitted an mtx75. lol

Actually 10th racer kindly gave me the part number for the bearing i have 'made' fit. Just wondering if he has a slightly different box....
