Just ordered mine from cg motorsport very helpful guy. There are 3 types apparently. the one you need is the mk6 one which is the larger type bearing than the mk5 one.My box is the mk6 box which needs the larger bearing and sounds like you have the same box.

What iB5 boxes are you lot using on the CVH engines? Got a couple in my garage but they will be different ratios from different mk6 Escorts.

Also, the release bearing, RS2000 and Diesel vans keep getting mentioned, but do they not use the MT75 gearbox or MTX75? Not the cossie one obviously.

Good info here for finis codes etc.

The rs2000 used the mtx75, but the release bearing is similar to the ib5's and this is what i have fitted at the moment (not a direct fit).

The gearboxes that jaiscossie and i have used are from mk6 (possibly) diesel escort vans. They have the starter at the front/bottom of the box. some ib5's have the starter at the back or at the top/front which is no good to use (back could work?).

Apart from the release bearing, the box has bolted straight onto my engine, and gearbox cradle, i assume the standard drive shafts fit? im using the rst diff so they deffo fit mine.

Hopefully be a good strong box, think im going to build another box with heat treated and shot peened 1.3 ka ratios (have heard these are similar to standard rst's) and possibly a different diff.

Rob,
Do you mean metal arm that the cable goes into?

Just looked and it has the reverse light switch fitted and also a couple of orange stickers on it one saying about the release bearing

Yes mate, the lever that the clutch cable goes through. Mine didn't come with one, but the bc box arm and fork fit (the fork is the part that moves the release bearing).

My box also didn't have a bearing for the clutch arm, i just got one from here and it seems to be correct,

http://www.autogear.ltd.uk/ford/ford...bush-late.html

This is also where i got the bearings to for the gearbox.

No problems, it seems to be the correct size for mine. I 'think' thats all you need. Could you have a measure up of you release bearing and maybe a photo when it comes?

The arm is very easy to swap over, just one bolt and it pulls out.

Nothing at the moment! but around the 250 mark when i get it working, you?

Congratulations mate if you could measure the bearing height, from top to bottom (only of the inner round part) and the diameter of the hole that would be great. I just want to check mine is the same height as yours. And £20 is a bargain mate, my ford bearing was £36 and the other one i bought was a QH part and cost £30

Rob,
Hi Rob , had a measure of the bearing ,the inner part is 62mm dia overall 65mm bearing size, the hole in the middle is 34mm dia.

Has EQ5918 stamped on the side of it

Dont know how well this box will last but thought it was worth a last atempt before going mtx route . my car was last rr'd on a set off dd rollers at 319hp

If its correct let me know and ill post there number and the ref number for the bearing.

Not sure if ive measured it right so if not let me know and ill measure it from the other side(i measured from the top side with hooks pointing downwards if that makes sense)

Thanks mate, I got the box in! it didn't have the correct tag after all! so no idea what model it was from. That bush for the clutch arm fitted perfectly.

Good luck with yours!

Rob,
How did yoo box line up to the mounts etc, as my car has the 1600i arb and didnt realise it was different doh, but looking at the front of my new box it has the four holes where the 1600i arb should bolt up to . Did your box have these ?

Hello mate,

I don't have posh suspension so i was fine

But, my box has those holes for the different mount too, and the same switch, i forget why but i couldn't use the plate that covers/protects the switch as it hit something......

And i have read that the ib5 mount holes are compatible with s1 and s2, so i think you will be fine.

Heres a rubbish shot of it fitted, you can see the 4 holes for a different mount.... got a feeling you can refit the protective cage (forget why i didn't...).
