the best by far, ive done it several times with brilliant success is a twisted bit of wire wool (not much, only 1" long) poked down the pipe, close to the gauge. Try it, it stops flickering, and the gauge is still very quick and responsive

Some cheap kack from ebay that works ok but the constant ticking its driving me nuts. I asked for one with a psi readout and got sent one with bar readout but at least I know its boosting lol.

Lol relax, im sure he will. But cheap boost gauges give me the right ball ache. They always over read or under read, i had one that gave me a different peak figure every time i came on boost, one min i was running 13psi, the next 20 lol.

lol, ive had loads of TIM gauges and similar, they have all been pretty good accuracy wise, some did require "calibrating" to get them to sit on zero right enough. im surethe bourdon tube mechanism is from the same manufacturere in most cases any hoo.

Hi Rob,

Maybe that 200+HP 12 psi 1.6cvh had one of those cheap boost gauges?

Hello Essex,

Beautiful car!
You don't have a boost gauge?
I would only trust a top end brand of gauge. It certainly sounds like something wasn't quite right at the dyno shop.

Cheers

I agree with that Perry, much better having something you trust, so you can spot a difference really quickly.

I've been wanting a boost gauge for long time.Just so many to choose from and as you say having one you can trust does help. Everyone mostly points to autogauge. So might use them?

Thanks for the comment Canada1

I have purchased an Innovate Motorsports vac/boost gauge. Same manufacturer that I purchased the wideband O2 sensor from.
Most companies have cheap ones available, stay away from the lowest costing ones.

Cheers

But as above autogauge seem to work well. I just like the stack gauges.

Hello Chaffe,

That is the best way to calibrate a boost gauge - however if the map sensor has been overpresurized they certainly can be out of spec too.
