Is there a manual available for this process or is it just trail and error?

Easy peasy mate. The window and rubber are removed as one piece. Remove plastic B and c pillar trims. Rivnut a threaded insert into holes present on the B pillar ( I prefer these to rivetting the window bracket straigh to the B-pillar) and cut the C pillar trim (as red rsturbo said the trim is marked out), fit opening rear window rubbers and simply bolt the new windows up. Assuming you are fitting complete second hand units. My brother and I did mine in about 40 mins all in, including getting tools out and me grabbing a cuppa.
