Wastegate solenoid / Amal vavle, advice needed...
I purchased my ERST around 12 months ago. In the 12 months of getting to know the engine its undergone a full rebuild from a heavily modified engine back to standard.
I'm almost there... having gone through the running in process which took over 3 months to do a 1000 miles with all this shite weather we've had!!! There's a standard ecu now fitted to the car and also a standard actuator. Having gone for a spin today, the car is boosting to 18 psi before hitting the limiter at 4000 rpm???
The boost is hardly wound in... The only positive thing is the bailey dump valve is the loudest whoosh I've ever heard on a S2 turbo!
Something is just not right though! It's as if there is a secret bleed valve somewhere bypassing the standard parts... What shall i do?

Read the guide how to set up the amal valve jets and set the correct preload on the wastgate and set the fueling etc etc etc.....
Otherwise it sounds like your going to hurt your engine real soon.

Doesn't sound like a std ECU if it's going to 18psi, it should hit std boost cut at 10psi.
Std actuator, the way I usually set them is by taking the actuator off the wastegate arm, setting the length of the rod so the hole sits half over the pin on the wastegate arm and then hooking it over so it just has a bit of tension to keep it closed but not tight enough that it holds too much boost, then adjust it with a bleed valve or slackening it again til the boost is low enough for whatever you want it at. piped from turbo straight to actuator, then once you have the boost set to what you want, if you want the amal valve fitting, just plumb it in and i'd imagine it should all work fine.
I'd also get the fueling checked by someone who knows the MFI system
