Turbo actuator/wastegate set up
Hi all, i recently brought a second hand turbo and actuator and i am not sure where the wastegate should be positioned when the engine is not boosting. I assumed it would be completely open? Any advice would be great.

Oh right, im new to the world of turbos but i thought they only boosted when the wastegate was closed, thats why i assumed that when idling and the car isnt boosting the wastegate would be open.
Thanks

they only boost when you increase the throttle position, and thus the amound of gas going through the turbo, the wastegate is there to stop the car making more than the required boost, it will open when the desired boost level is reached, and then stabilise at that pressure until you back off on the throttle.
