rear adjustable tie bars

I don't know about the RS1600i Having them from the factory, i wouldnt have thought so.
They look like the standard tie bars, but have a longer threaded section with 2 nuts/washers so you can move the wheel forward and backward in the arch, increaseing or decreasing the rear toe angle!
On a side note, ive polybushed my rear tie bars and it has changed the toe angle of the rear wheels visibly, moved them backward in the arch so they toe out more and the car seems to handle better... I'll monitor how the tyres wear and maybe get some adjustable arms if its scrubbing tyres away!

Toe out at the rear will make the car unstable. You will need some degree of toe in at the rear to aid stability, too much and you will increase rear end grip. Some front toe out will help turn in for tight corners.

When they were readily available in 2001, i used series one front tie rods on the rear of mine, just had to put a small kink in them to clear the wheels!
You could just weld the left and right hand threaded inserts available from McGills motorsport either end then rose joint either end to make it adjustable on the car

New adjustable rear tie bars for mk3/4 Escorts are constantly available at ebay.co.uk by various sellers for very little money. I bought these some 2 years ago, and can't fault the quality.

How many times have i had to post up about these
The ones from ebay are fine (from that seller anyway)! Ran them for over 5 years, and fitted a few sets to different cars. Work an absolute treat and saves faffing around with welding on threaded bar etc
