Fan fuse melting?
Hey guys.
The fuse at the front with the fan logo on the fuse box keeps melting over time.I cant remember if this the heater matrix fuse or for the fans,as the car currently in bits,so cant test it.What would cause this to keep happening... any common problem..

Thats the funny thing,i run my own fans too but not through the original wiring. If my memory serves me right, this fuse thats a 20amp,use to be a 25 even tho it says 20 on the cover....

The fans will run through a relay anyway I shoud imagine? The fan switch trips the relay hence the fans activate.
The reason the fuse melts is the fans are on for to long and so the high current draw melts the fuse. MSD sell an uprated fan switch which could help, this brings the fans on 5-7 degrees earlier than the standard one and so the fans are not on for so long trying to cool the otherwise hotter engine with the standard switch. This is my theory anyway MSD's reason for the product is they say as standard the fans come on to late and then when they do switch off the temps still a little higher than desired.
Do you have a standard radiator and/or a front mounted intercooler?

My fans are in front off my full front mount ic so blow hard to get throw and cool down. It was the amount off time they was on for that melted the fuse. I have the Msd switch and thermo but I have a alloy rad whitch is harder to cool to. It's just write now.

I would say it will be the coolinf fan fuse almost defo, classic problem re the fuse, caused by what i said above, easy way to confirm is to turn the blowers on and see if they work!
