Default Aftermarket Fuel Guage / Standard Tank Sender

Do aftermarket fuel guages work with the standard RST tank sender?

Anyone have any experience with them?

Most guages advertised have sender either included or available separately but i cant be doing with changing the sender!!!

Think both Christian (and becky) and Rod Tarry got Stack gauges to work on standard tank senders i believe.

Stack says that their fuel gauges are programable, so they accept any sensor between 0 and 280 ohms resistance. Don`t know what resistance is the rs turbo sender but i think someone here has stack gauge with a original fuel sender in a sierra. Maybe beefy?

Not as simple as that, some work from high to low resistance some from low to high, try www.cruzpro.com for proper quality ones, that really are totally programmable, and unlike the way std gauges work can be made 100% accurate at all times and levels.

I did indeed have the Stack one, which is, in actual fact an Autometer gauge. I made the effort to calibrate it properly, by emptying the tank, then filling it at intervals. I can't remember exactly now, but it is possible and did work OK. It wasn't great, but did the job.

Cheers for the info guys- what i'm looking at doing is putting a boost guage in Mk3 clocks in place of the standard temp & fuel guage. Obviously then i have to relocate these which is not a problem with regards location of guages- its just the fuel sender...
Doesnt sound like the stack one is overly accurate.
Might be able to use a stock mk4 one (round dial) mounted behind a 52mm bezel and glass in a dashboard panel, maybe where the radio was- could be an option!
cheers!
