Default Speedo question

Removed the instrument panel at the weekend trying to fix a problem that turned out to be a fuse (doh!). Disconnected the speedo drive from the speedo when i removed the panel. I've reconnected it since and now it just bounces around at about 20-30mph regardless of actual speed. Anyone had this before and is it just a re-calibration of the speedo or does it need replacing? Cheers

pull the cable off the speedo again and make sure you align it up correctly when re fitting it

Are there any alignment marks on the cable or the speedo unit to help alignment or is it just trial and error
