when i take the oil cap off the engine stops?

Yep tis a good signe not a bad one
The TST system relys on vacume and pressure , its all linked to the metering head needin vacume to hold the flap open slightly .
If u remove the oil cap you disturb this balance and the engine will stop

Same thing in english:
The inlet manifold is connected to the block through the crankcase breather. So, when you remove the oil filler cap you are letting air into the inlet manild through it. This means that the air is not going via the air-mass meter and therefore no fuel will be injected, thus the engine dies.
