I have taken out my instrument panel to replace some bulbs - whilst it is out i wanted to
1) Adjust the speedo needle (it reads 400rpm when ignition on but engine not running)
2) Adjust the fuel level needle as on empty it still reads just under half a tank and as my fuel comp is all over the place it would be nice to rely on at least the needle giving me a correct reading.
The car has a lockwood white dial kit so the insturment panel was obviously removed to do this and i guess the needles were removed to do this and not put back correctly.
Ar ethe needles easy to remove - i.e. do i just pull off and push back on in position or is it harder than that cos when i try and pull the needle it doesnt come off easily and i dont want to force it (might break one) if it isnt that easy,
Any suggestions ?

Easiest way is to get 2 tea spoons mate and use the ends of them both under the needle then pull upwards with them both carefully and they will come off.

you dont need to remove the needles to fit lockwood dials but a lot of people do! the hole in the middle is big enough to fit over the widest part of the needle and they have a dark sticker that goes behind to stop light shining through
as said above use spoons to remove, absolute pain in the ass to get them reading right tho so good luck!
also are you sure the fuel guage problem isnt a sticking sender unit in the tank? they usually are

I am pretty sure its down to the fact that the needle wasnt replaced properly when the previous owner put on the white dials.
