So, for me his is a bigun, went to see a local painter yesterday to get the tin worm cleared away. Only to be told the little bubbles on the roof cant really be removed!
He said that he cud grind em out but they would no doubt come back, so I either, deal with it (cant do that) find someone who could cut out and weld some new metal in (hence this thread) or get a new roof skin (whilst chasing those hens to get their teeth)
So any ideas? Anyone know anyone who could weld that good?
Thanks guys... Please make me happy again...

if you were to take the roof lining off you would be horrified to see the rot underneath. The rust is coming from underneath, you could get a skin from another car, but it would have to be a non sunroof one.

cut all the rot out and put a carbon skin over the top is most likely your best bet as then any future buyers will just think you've done it for looks and the cost won't be much different too

I had a couple of spots on my roof and was told same as you by bodyshops,i was then told to try moorlands classics near Leek in Staffordshire as they restore old cars. They suggested lead filling the roof which i agreed too, been over 2 years and the rust hasnt come back yet!Either that or new roof mate, good luck.

as said, the rots coming through from underneath, only way to completely eradicate it is to get a skin,is what i was going to do before ive given up.check my resto for pics, yours will be the same if has bubbles on the roof.

Just out of curiosity, how true is this exactly? I know of a guy with a car that had some rust on the front nearside wing. He cut the rust out and repaired it to a good standard. This was almost 20 years ago now, and the rust has not come back on that wing...
